some advice for survivors

– Feelings of shock, guilt, blame, anger, relief, depression and isolation are common. These feelings are often overwhelming, but normal.

– Seek people who are able and willing to listen; this may include friends and family, clergy or professionals.

– Survivors need to take care of themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. They should seek professional help if needed.

support groups

Coping with the loss of a loved one is a very real and timely process. No matter what the circumstances are surrounding the loss, it is never something easy to process. The loss often comes unexpected and without any signs of warning. This is a process that takes time, sensitivity, and a lot of healing.

We always expect ourselves and our loved ones to go peacefully in a deep sleep at a ripe old age, but this is not always reality. Some in our community are facing harder and unseen battles that take them away far too soon. And nothing can prepare those left behind. You face daunting and unanswered questions for the rest of your lives.

It’s important to find a community that can support you. We are putting together list of helpful resources on this page to help suicide survivors. If you have any resources that you think may be useful, please get in touch via [email protected]. We aim to provide support to all those in need and all those who have been left behind.
