Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

support your teachers
Teachers play an extremely important and vital role in society. It’s always reassuring knowing that your child is in the care of someone who is mentally well and able to give their attention to your child
But teachers don’t just teach our children academically. They also play an important role in guiding our children on the correct emotional and mental path as their maturity grows. By giving teachers the opportunity to establish a sense of internal peace through our mindfulness rooms in elementary schools, the approach to teaching and learning can be positively impacted. Remember, teachers are who our children spend the most time. They quickly become role models and the people that our children aspire to be like, especially at a young age.
MINDFULNESS ROOMS
If our teachers are the ones nurturing our children, we should want them to be in the best headspace possible. That is why OpenMIND is teaming up and partnering with local elementary schools in North Dakota who are interested in taking care of their teachers’ mental health by establishing mindfulness rooms in schools.
Our Room To Breathe project creates a dedicated space in schools for teachers to unwind and de-stress using tools and resources such as a premium massage chair, essential oils, online meditation and relaxation media, and more.
Being a teacher is extremely stressful, so we aim to offer teachers an escape, even for a short time, in the middle of their busy days. It has been proven that taking small breaks while at work provides multiple benefits. It can boost your motivation, help you reassess your goals for the day, it allows you to step back and reevaluate where you are and where you want to be, it reduces stress, and improves creativity. Not only that, but it allows for better engagement with colleagues and students.
These mindful rooms in schools are already showing a significant impact on the mental wellbeing of teachers. Teachers are reporting a reduction in stress levels after their time in the room and, importantly, also state that they recognize that they are able to return to the classroom environment in a better mindset and respond to their students in a healthier way.
Our proof is in the pudding having obtained positive feedback from a number of teachers at schools where the Room To Breathe project has already been established and implemented. This sense of peace and happiness is what encourages us at OpenMIND to persevere and continue creating a mindful space in schools across North Dakota.
